Training and Experience
Shannon Wilkerson is the Assistant Director of New Vision Counseling Center and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia. He works closely with Dr. Kristy Christopher-Holloway to ensure that everyone who encounters NVCC, has an optimal experience. Shannon received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavior Analysis from Savannah State University (Savannah, GA), a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Specialist Degree both from the University of West Georgia (Carrollton, GA). He is currently studying to receive his Ed.D in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of West Georgia. Shannon has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. He has worked in psychiatric treatment residential facilities, CORE services, and school settings. Shannon's current areas of expertise is with children, adolescents, and adults.
Approach
Shannon's therapeutic approach consists of several models including, Trauma Focus Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Client Centered, Black Positive Psychology, and Behavioral Therapy. Shannon believes that people have the natural ability to heal themselves. With client-centered therapy, he can be a vessel in helping his clients navigate difficult life situations.
