Training and Experience
Kathleen "Katie" Wilbanks is a counselor intern at New Vision Counseling Center, LLC. She has Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and is currently a graduate student at the University of West Georgia, where she is pursuing a Master's degree in Psychology. Upon graduation, Katie intends to work towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia.
Additionally, Katie holds the position of Clinical Assistant at New Vision Counseling Center, LLC. In her position as clinical assistant, Katie works diligently to assist callers and help new and potential clients in scheduling as well as making sure that they are matched with the appropriate therapist.
Treatment Approach
Katie believes strongly in the therapeutic process and the ability of therapy to assist individuals in overcoming life's struggles and achieving their personal goals. Furthermore, Katie connects strongly with Humanistic theory of self-actualization which states that each individual possess a realm of positive possibilities for their future and holds within themselves the necessary tools to meet their goals. Believing in the extreme potential that each individual possesses, Katie works with clients in a safe, nonjudgmental and encouraging relationship to progress positively. She works to build a strong therapeutic relationship and provide support for each client to make their desired changes. Katie works with children, individuals, couples, families, and groups.
