Training and Experience

Brandy Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia and is Certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors.  She obtained a Master of Science and a Specialist Degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. Brandy has experience in various settings including outpatient mental health services and inpatient stabilization services.

Treatment Approach

Brandy is a Multicultural Feminist counselor who sees people from a “mental health” perspective rather than a “mental illness” one. She is always aware of how the different aspects of our identity contribute to strengths and conflicts in our lives.  Brandy considers it her role to help clients develop a new language of emotions, skills, and communication patterns that will help them resolve this conflict. Brandy's hope is that this also results in clients feeling better about themselves and feeling empowered. Brandy takes a collaborative approach in the therapy journey: "I support, educate, and endeavor to experience your worlds and perspectives. In turn, you establish goals, evaluate your progress, and have the opportunity to explore underlying themes and patterns of behavior". Brandy is grateful to work with individuals and couples seeking to improve their quality of life".

Brandy works with adult clients 18 and older and Brandy is able to offer therapy services in English and Italian.
