Training and Experience
April D. Reese is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Georgia and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). She has also acquired a certification as a Clinical Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CCAADC) through the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia. April holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia State University and a Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling from Atlanta based Argosy University Campus. April is also a member of the American Counseling Association.
April has over 10 years of Mental Health experience providing therapeutic services in residential facilities, Psychiatric hospitals, Partial hospitalization programs, group homes and community outpatient settings. April has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and families while providing individual, family and group Psychotherapy.
April is fully trained in various evidenced based practice models to include; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Person Centered Therapy and Seven Challenges Substance Abuse program.
April’s practical counseling style is a “down to earth”, genuine approach to establishing rapport and gently guiding the client through the therapeutic process. Her empathic stance focuses on the client’s individual needs and strengths while understanding their world view as a means of inspiring change and moving them towards a balanced life.
